Making Education FunThe Australian Geography Competition is a joint venture produced by The Royal Geographical Society of Queensland (RGSQ), and supported by The Australian Geography Teachers’ Association (AGTA). As both organisations are non-profit making, production of the competition relies on sponsorship each year. The back story.
As an annual event open to all secondary schools, The competition has two parts: a school round and a National Final – held in Sydney. The overall winners have the opportunity to travel overseas and represent Australia in the international competition – World Championship. In 2016 the competition – running since 1998 – celebrates its 18th Anniversary. It attracts entries from approximately 80,000 Australian secondary students each year. The brief. The primary objective is to increase the popularity and awareness of Geography as an important and relevant curriculum subject for secondary school students by way of a national competition. The scope of the project includes the conceptualisation of an annual theme and the design and production of all print material for the promotion and implementation of the competition. The solution. We produced a six page brochure which includes an entry form and posters to promote the competition to Australian schools. These can be mailed to multiple locations easily and economically. For the competition itself, we produce the stationery, questions booklet, medals and a range of certificates for the winners of different categories. The result. We have worked on the competition since its inception. The client has continually received very positive feedback from schools and sponsors on the quality of the work produced. Since it’s inception and our involvement the entrant level of the Australian Geography Competition has doubled. Client Quote“Brand iD first designed the Australian Geography Competition marketing communications materials when we moved to a professional full-colour presentation. Subsequently entries from participants almost doubled. I value their advice on design matters. Importantly they are very easy to work with and always meet deadlines.” |
